Aims & Objectives of ESGENA

The overall aim of ESGENA is to support the individual Gastroenterology and Endoscopy nurse and associates as well as national groups to improve patient care and endoscopic practice in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy by using available recourses.

As a European society ESGENA can provide structures for education and communication which influence and improve daily practice in the membership countries.

Consequently the aims of ESGENA are:

  • to provide a channel for communication between staff working in gastroenterology and endoscopy nursing on a European level.
  • to stimulate European collaboration in nursing research in order to improve quality of care.
  • to provide educational opportunities for staff working in gastroenterology and endoscopy nursing
  • to promote a recognized qualification in gastroenterology and endoscopy nursing on a European level.
  • to promote co-operation with other professional groups with compatible aims
  • to advance the professional status of gastroenterology and endoscopy nurses and endoscopy associates on a European level.
