When planning endoscopy departments, it is always a challenge to accommodate the existing room structure with the requirements of an interventional endoscopy department. Despite good planning, we make mistakes, forget important points, and finally we have to live with half-optimal alternatives. We take a critical look behind the scenes of a new department a year after it opened and learn from the team’s experiences.
In addition to the structural conditions, the workflow determines how well a department can work in daily routine. Checklists play a key role in the patient pathway.
